A Legacy of Excellence

Where we have come from

Granite Baptist School, established in 1975, began as a small institution with a single K5 class. Despite our humble beginnings, our founders had a clear vision: to provide a Christ-centered education that nurtures both academic and spiritual growth. Their dedication laid the foundation for what would become a cornerstone of the community.

In our early years, we focused exclusively on Kindergarten. After two years, we embarked on an ambitious journey of expansion, adding a new grade each year. By 1989, Granite Baptist School proudly graduated its first high school seniors, marking a significant milestone in our history. This achievement was a testament to the unwavering commitment of our staff, students, and community.

From the very beginning, our students have been known as the Granite Braves, a name that symbolizes our spirit of courage, resilience, and determination. Over the years, this spirit has permeated every aspect of our school life, from academics to athletics, fostering a strong sense of identity and pride among our students and alumni.

In 2013, we achieved our first accreditation, and since then, we have acquired three more as a recognition of our adherence to high educational standards and our commitment to continuous improvement. This accreditation affirmed our dedication to providing quality education within a framework of Christian values.

Recently, we celebrated another remarkable milestone: the graduation of our 35th senior class. This achievement not only highlights our school’s longevity but also underscores our consistent ability to nurture and develop young minds ready to make a positive impact in the world.

As we reflect on our journey, we are grateful for the countless individuals who have contributed to our success. From our dedicated teachers and supportive parents to our hardworking students and alumni, each has played a vital role in shaping Granite Baptist School into the esteemed institution it is today.

Kindergarten Classes

Half-Day Kindergartens

Kindergarten classes meet five mornings per week from 8:15 – 11:50. Our K-3/K-4 programs include Bible, number and letter recognition, phonics, arithmetic, crafts and directed play. The K-5 curriculum is an advanced approach toward first grade readiness. While fluent reading is not our first priority, many students are reading very well by the end of the year. Basic math principles, elements of grammar, science, and social studies are included.

Full-Day Kindergartens

Full-day kindergarten students stay for lunch, rest and directed play until 3:00.

Before and After Care

Our morning watch program begins at 7:00 for those needing supervision prior to the start of the school day. There is no fee for morning watch. Our aftercare program is from 3:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for K3 – 6th grade students, and from 3:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for Secondary students (7th-12th). Refer to the Aftercare Sign-up Form for fee specifics. Our pre-school and extended care program falls under a Letter of Compliance granted to us by the Maryland State Department of Education, through the Office of Child Care.
